Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of electronics, programming and signal processing.
Course learning outcomes
  1. Student can classify biomedical signals and their sources, list basic parameters and characteristics of bioelectric signals (BET1A_W1_N).
  2. Student can explain the structure of medical instrumentation systems and devices (BET1A_W1_N).
  3. Student can measure fundamental biomedical signals and parameters (ECG, EMG, EOG, EEG, body temperature, oximetry) and transmit them (BET1A_U1_N).
  4. Student can explain the process of signal transmission in biomedical systems (BET1A_W1_N).
Programme learning outcomes
  1. The student knows and understands the basic problems and directions of civilization development, including the impact of the development of technology and technology on its progress.
  2. The student can make the right selection of information sources, evaluate, critically analyze and synthesize this information, select and apply appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques, can use knowledge in the field of formulating and solving complex and unusual engineering problems, including performing tasks in new conditions.
Programme content Students will gain fundamental knowledge concerning measurement methods in medical diagnostics and medical imaging. Students will be acquainted with the design of medical equipment, measurement systems and methods of signal transmission in medical electronic equipment.

Course content LECTURE - Fundamental topics in the area of medical measurements. - Types and sources of bioelectric signals, electrodes and sensors of non-electrical values. - Biosignal measurements: EKG, EOG, EMG, EEG, blood pressure, temperature. - Amplifiers in electronic medical equipment. - Distortions in measurement systems. - Data transmission in medical systems. - Design of medical measurement devices. - Medical imaging systems: tomography - X-ray and MRI, ultrasonography, thermovision. LABORATORY Construction of simple electronic systems using Arduino and analog and digital sensors. PROJECT The project includes the implementation of an electronic system using Arduino and biomedical sensors (analog and / or digital), performing measurements with designed system, and preparation of a report.
